Four Palestinians killed in Israeli shelling and gunfire in Gaza on Thursday

Four Palestinians were killed and others, including children, were injured on Thursday as a result of Israeli gunfire and shelling in the northern and southern Gaza Strip.

In the latest attack, the young man Tamer Iyad Al-Matouq was martyred, along with Muhammad Al-Matouq, as a result of an Israeli drone strike that targeted a gathering of citizens in Al-Nuzha Street in Jabalia town, north of the Gaza Strip, according to a medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, who also confirmed the arrival of a number of people with varying injuries.

Tamer Al-Matouq’s death came just two days after his father’s death, in an incident that sparked widespread reaction, especially after activists circulated words he had used to mourn his father.

“The hardest kind of oppression is when your father goes to work for your sake and comes back to you carried on shoulders.”

Today's martyr, Tamer Iyad Al-Matouq, mourns his father, who was martyred two days ago in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier on Thursday, medical sources reported that the young man Hassan Abed was killed by an Israeli sniper near a clinic belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the middle of the Jabalia camp.

The sources added that the army obstructed the retrieval of his body and threw a bomb from a drone towards people who tried to rescue him, before he was transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City.

The young man, Radi Fawzi Halawa (25 years old), was also killed after an Israeli march targeted a group of Palestinians on Old Gaza Street in the town of Jabalia, according to the same sources.

Earlier on Thursday, a medical source reported that Halawa had been seriously injured before being targeted by a bomb from an Israeli quadcopter drone, before his death was announced.

Later, a Palestinian was moderately wounded by gunfire from the Israeli army in the Al-Salatin area of Beit Lahia town in the northern Gaza Strip, according to medical sources.

In the southern Gaza Strip, a medical source reported that three children were injured and taken to Nasser Medical Complex west of Khan Younis, as a result of an Israeli bombing that targeted a group of civilians near the Bani Suheila roundabout, east of the city.

The source added that one of the three injuries was serious.

Eyewitnesses said that “a civilian vehicle and an ambulance transported the injured to Nasser Medical Complex after an Israeli drone targeted a gathering of citizens near the Bani Suheila roundabout.”

Witnesses stated that the three injured children were firewood collectors.

Since the agreement came into effect, the Israeli army, in its violations involving shelling and gunfire, has killed about 856 Palestinians and injured 2,463 others, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday.

The agreement was reached two years after a genocidal war that Israel began on October 8, 2023, and which continued later in various forms, leaving more than 72,000 Palestinian martyrs, more than 172,000 wounded, and widespread destruction affecting 90 percent of the civilian infrastructure.
