The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, who is also the General Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan, Megawati Soekarnoputri, received a visit from the Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravorty, at her residence in Menteng.

In the meeting, Megawati and the Indian Ambassador discussed the closeness between the two countries that had been established since the era of the First President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno, with the central figure in the Indian independence movement who later became the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.

The meeting, which was warm and full of nostalgia, saw the two of them discuss the closeness of the First President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno, to the Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Megawati also added that she was close to Bijayananda "Biju" Patnaik, known as a legendary Indian independence figure and pilot.

Megawati began by recounting her interaction with Prime Minister Nehru. She explained that she participated in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, from September 1-6, 1961.

As part of the Indonesian delegation, despite being only 14 years old, Megawati sat and interacted directly with the founding figures of the Non-Aligned Movement, including Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
