Dr. Sergei Fishtumov, a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology, warned that one of the causes of sudden fainting could be a drop in blood pressure

According to him, sudden fainting can occur as a result of low blood pressure because, in this case, blood does not reach the brain in sufficient quantities. He also notes that low blood pressure can cause dizziness.

The doctor warns that the sensation of the heart "stopping"—as if it pauses or skips a beat—is often caused by a heart rhythm disorder, such as arrhythmia, supraventricular tachycardia, or atrial fibrillation. He emphasizes the importance of ruling out the latter first during a visit to the cardiologist.

According to him, these sensations often arise due to tension and nervous strain.

He says: "Anxiety, panic attacks, and chronic emotional stress activate the nervous system, which can cause irregular heartbeats. These attacks are common even in people who do not suffer from any organic diseases."

The doctor confirms that hormonal imbalances, especially those affecting the thyroid gland, can also be a cause. For example, hyperthyroidism often causes a rapid and irregular heartbeat.
