Satya Wacana Salatiga coach Jerry Lolowang said his team had given their best to suppress Pelita Jaya Jakarta despite losing 46-68 in the IB match at the Prof Susilo Basketball Sports Hall, Semarang City.
"We know that on paper we might not be the favorites, but I saw that in the first and third quarters, the team played very hard and tried their best to make this a tight match," said Jerry after the match.
According to him, Henry Lakay and his friends tried to slow down the tempo of the visiting team's game through tight defense and more patient ball control.
He said the low position game he implemented went according to plan in most of the matches.
Jerry said his team was able to keep the score low until the fourth quarter. He considered this a testament to the players' effective execution of instructions, particularly in containing the opponent's transition speed.
However, the depth of Pelita Jaya's squad, coached by David Singleton, was deemed to be the difference-maker in the final stages of the match. Satya Wacana struggled to maintain consistency in the final quarter.
