Jannik Sinner has chosen to prioritize his physical recovery and savor his victory in Rome before shifting his full focus to the French Open.
The world number one recently made history after winning the 2026 Italian Open, becoming the first Italian to win a Masters 1000 tournament in Rome since Adriano Panatta in 1976.
"The priority is to recover as best as possible in the next two to three days," Sinner was quoted as saying.
He said he wouldn't be doing much training in the near future and wanted to spend time with his family before heading to Paris to prepare for Roland Garros.
Sinner is expected to resume preparations this weekend ahead of Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam tournament of the season.
"There won't be much training, tennis, zero. Physically, my team and I need to check it," said the 24-year-old.
"I also want to be with my family right now. I'll take a break from tennis, and then from Thursday onwards, I think I'll be in Paris, preparing, and we'll see how it goes. For now, rest is very important."
