Spurs beat Thunder 122-115 in double overtime

 


  The San Antonio Spurs secured victory in the first game of the 2025-2026 NBA Western Conference Finals, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 122-115 in double overtime at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.

The NBA website reported Monday that Victor Wembanyama delivered a superb performance and was the star of the victory with 41 points and 24 rebounds to give the Spurs a temporary 1-0 lead in their best-of-seven series against the Thunder.

"We showed a tremendous effort from all the players," said Wembanyama, who at 22 years and 134 days old became the youngest player in NBA history to record at least 40 points and 20 rebounds in a playoff game .

The Frenchman also sealed the win with two dunks in the final minute of the second overtime , including a three-point play that saw the Spurs secure the victory over their opponents.

Dylan Harper also made a key contribution with 24 points and seven steals , which is the record for most steals by a Spurs player in a single playoff game .

Stephon Castle added 17 points, while Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson each scored 13. Julian Champagnie contributed 11 points.
