As the conflict in the Middle East continues and bombings on the Gulf countries increase, Anthony Joshua, world heavyweight champion of British and Nigerian origin, has officially settled in Dubai.
The 36-year-old boxer confirmed in official documents that he now resides in the United Arab Emirates. Thus, his commercial empire, estimated at more than $200 million, reportedly transferred from the UK to Dubai.
A move that would allow him to make significant tax savings.
The lack of income tax in Dubai makes this particularly attractive destination for wealthy individuals looking to reduce their tax burden.
Like Joshua, many British wealthy people have recently emigrated to Dubai due to a series of high-impact tax reforms targeting the richest to close an estimated £22 billion national budget deficit.
The country predicts that an additional 50,000 people, mainly British citizens, could leave the UK each year.
Born in Watford to Nigerian parents, Anthony Joshua gained worldwide fame after winning the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He went on to become a two-time Unified World Heavyweight Champion and received national honors, including the Order of the British Empire for services to boxing.
