United Nations: Israel has displaced nearly 40,000 Palestinians in the West Bank since the beginning of 2025

Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, announced that Israel has forced nearly 40,000 Palestinians to flee their homes in the West Bank since the beginning of 2025.

This came in press statements on Friday at the United Nations headquarters in New York, where the UN spokesman presented data on the situation of the Palestinians, citing reports from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

Haq noted that house demolitions carried out by Israeli settlers in the West Bank during the first week of May resulted in the displacement of 42 Palestinians, including 24 children.

He added that nearly 40,000 people have been displaced throughout the West Bank since the beginning of last year as a result of Israeli practices.

He explained that the Israeli army and armed settlers who launch attacks under the army's protection continue their attacks without pause in all West Bank cities.

He pointed out that the settlers' attacks target "Palestinians who are the original inhabitants of the area and their property."

The West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is witnessing an escalation in Israeli military operations, including raids, arrests, shootings, and excessive use of force, in parallel with increasing attacks by settlers against Palestinians and their property.

Since October 2023, attacks by the Israeli occupation army and settlers have resulted in the martyrdom of at least 1,155 Palestinians, the injury of about 11,750 others, and the arrest of nearly 22,000, according to official Palestinian data.
