Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is suing the United States government after the US Department of Defense included it in a list of companies suspected of having ties to the Chinese military.
Technology cited reports from Bloomberg and the BBC which stated that Alibaba had filed a lawsuit to be removed from the Pentagon's "blacklist".
Alibaba believes that the inclusion of the company's name on the United States Department of Defense's 1260H list has no legal or factual basis and violates the rights of free speech and due process of law.
The United States Department of Defense has named Alibaba as a contributor to civil-military integration that supports China's defense industry because of its regulatory ties with the Chinese government.
