Among them Türkiye: 8 countries condemn the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli extremists and reject any change to the status quo in Jerusalem

This came in a joint statement by the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt, published by the Jordanian Foreign Ministry on the “X” platform.

On Sunday, Omar al-Rajoub, director of the media department in the Jerusalem Governorate, said that Israeli settlers "stormed the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, raised the occupation flags, and performed provocative rituals."

According to the joint statement, the foreign ministers of the eight countries condemned "in the strongest terms the continued incursions by extremist Israeli settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under the protection of Israeli forces, as well as the raising of the Israeli flag within its courtyards."

They stressed that "these provocative and unacceptable actions constitute a flagrant violation of international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the historical and legal status quo of the holy sites in East Jerusalem and occupied East Jerusalem."

The ministers also condemned “the continued violations and systematic and illegal measures carried out by the Israeli authorities, the occupying power, aimed at changing the historical, legal and demographic character of occupied East Jerusalem, and desecrating and undermining the sanctity and status of its Islamic and Christian holy sites.”

They reiterated their "categorical rejection of any attempts to change the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites," and reaffirmed "that the entire area of Al-Aqsa Mosque/Haram al-Sharif, amounting to 144 dunams, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims."

They held the Israeli authorities "responsible for halting these escalatory measures," and warned that "repeated Israeli violations exacerbate tensions, fuel instability and extremism, undermine international efforts to achieve peace, and constitute a clear breach of Israel's obligations under international law."

The foreign ministers called for "an immediate halt to all these illegal and provocative Israeli practices."

Palestinians assert that Israel is intensifying its crimes to Judaize East Jerusalem, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to obliterate its Arab and Islamic identity.

The Palestinians insist on East Jerusalem as the capital of their hoped-for state, based on international legitimacy resolutions that do not recognize Israel’s occupation of the city in 1967, nor its annexation in 1980.
