Apple releases iOS 27 update to iPhone 11

Apple has confirmed that its latest operating system, iOS 27, can still be run on all iPhone models that previously supported iOS 26, including the iPhone 11 which is around seven years old.

Thus, users of iPhone 11 to the latest iPhone line can update their device's operating system to iOS 27.

As reported by Engadget on Monday (June 8) local time, Apple claims that apps on iOS 27 can open up to 30 percent faster than previous versions. Furthermore, Apple also stated that it has optimized the operating system's CPU scheduler to improve device efficiency and performance.

However, iOS 27 support does not necessarily make all artificial intelligence features such as Apple Intelligence and Siri AI available on all compatible devices.

Apple confirmed that the new AI features will only work on certain models, with the oldest devices to support them being the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

On the other hand, operating system updates for older models don't apply to the entire Apple device lineup. For example, watchOS 27 only supports the Apple Watch Series 10 or later, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, and the Apple Watch SE 3.

As such, a number of Apple Watch models that can still run watchOS 26 will no longer receive support for the watchOS 27 update.
