Apple is introducing a new standalone app for its artificial intelligence (AI)-based virtual assistant Siri, which was announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026.
As reported by TechCrunch on Monday (June 8) local time, the Siri AI app is designed to store the user's entire conversation history with the virtual assistant. Similar to AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Claude, users can rewind past conversations and resume existing ones.
When opening a previous conversation, the app will display a summary of the discussion, eliminating the need to read the entire transcript. Additionally, users can start new conversations with Siri AI through the app.
Apple explained that Siri now features a multi-functional interface that resembles an AI chatbot . Users can type questions, upload documents and images, and use voice mode to interact directly with the virtual assistant.
The Siri app can also be used across Apple devices, from iPhones to Macs to iPads. All user conversation history will be synced through iCloud, while maintaining Apple's standard privacy protections.
The app's launch coincides with the introduction of Siri AI, an update that enhances the virtual assistant's capabilities with a number of AI-based features that can understand context, access information on a user's device, and assist with more complex tasks.
