Apple officially announces Siri update as AI-based virtual assistant

Apple officially introduced the latest version of its virtual assistant Siri, which is now powered by artificial intelligence (AI), at the Worldwide Developers Conference  2026, which took place  United States time or early Tuesday morning Indonesian time.

As the virtual assistant, now known as Siri AI, is scheduled to be available in beta later this year. With this update, Apple transforms Siri from a voice-command-based assistant into an AI-powered digital companion that enables two-way conversations with users.

Siri AI will be available with a dedicated Siri app and will be able to leverage up-to-date knowledge from various sources to answer user questions. Furthermore, the virtual assistant can access information stored on the device and provide responses based on the content currently displayed on the screen.

When a user requests information, Siri AI will display results in the form of text cards containing information from the internet as well as data from messages and other applications on the device.
