PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk or BNI together with the All-Indonesia Badminton Association has produced a new generation of achievers through the young Indonesian men's doubles pair Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin who advanced to the final of the 2026 Indonesia Open.
"Raymond and Joaquin's success in reaching the finals is proof that world-class achievements are born from a consistent, collaborative, and sustainable development process," said BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo in an official statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
Raymond/Joaquin will face the final match against the Malaysian pair, Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin, who previously defeated the South Korean pair, Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae.
Raymond/Joaquin's journey to the final was impressive. One of their key achievements was their victory over the world's second-seeded Malaysians, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik. This victory demonstrated the young Indonesian pair's ability to compete and put pressure on the world's elite players.
The positive momentum continued in the quarterfinals, when Raymond/Joaquin defeated the Japanese pair, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi, in a fierce three-game battle. Both men displayed maturity, composure under pressure, and a strong fighting spirit, essential for competing at the highest level.
Despite their relatively young age compared to their rivals, Raymond/Joaquin have demonstrated competitive playing qualities, a strong competitive mentality, and the winning character that will be an important foundation for the future of Indonesian badminton.
