Krispy Kreme restaurant chain announced it is recalling a number of World Cup-themed doughnut products, warning customers not to eat them due to the possibility of contamination with nuts not listed on the label.
The recall includes the products "Peach Perfect Donut" and "Match Day Dozen", after it was discovered that they may contain hazelnuts, despite not being listed among the declared ingredients or allergens.
The Peach Perfect Donut is sold individually, shaped like a football field and covered in green and white icing, with a white chocolate filling. According to the company's allergy guidelines, it is supposed to contain only wheat, soy, and milk as allergens.
The "Match Day Dozen" pack includes 12 donuts, including two "Peach Perfect Donuts", along with a variety of other items.
The affected batches include products believed to have been sold with expiry dates of June 21 and 22, 2026, either individually or as part of "Match Day Dozen" packs.
Information indicates that these products were made at the Krispy Kreme factory in Peterborough, which supplies branches in Leicester, Nottingham, Ipswich, Norwich and Cambridge, as well as some supermarkets in the area.
The company urged customers who purchased the affected products not to consume them and to return them to the store for a full refund, without needing a purchase receipt.
A company spokesperson said: "Krispy Kreme places the utmost importance on consumer safety, and we are always committed to adhering to the highest standards of product quality and safety," adding: "We apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment this action may cause."
In an alert issued by the Food Standards Agency, officials warned that the products may contain hazelnuts, which could pose a health risk to people with hazelnut allergies.
The authority added: "If you have purchased these products and are allergic to hazelnuts, please do not consume them and return them to the store for a full refund, whether or not you have a receipt."
