Like many other Indonesian fans, Wachidal Mustofa Dimyani was filled with optimism when the Indonesian National Team was able to overcome various obstacles in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
The confidence of the man from Tulungagung, East Java, grew even stronger when the Indonesian National Team managed to advance to the fourth round of qualifying for the biggest football event in the world.
That is what drives Dimyani to continue following the struggles of the Indonesian National Team, both when playing at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium and when playing at the opponent's home ground.
Full of confidence, Dimyani even decided to go to Saudi Arabia to oversee Indonesia's last two matches in the fourth qualifying round.
"At that time, I was determined to witness history by making our first appearance at the 2026 World Cup under the name Indonesia," said the man who owns a retail business for Indonesian products in Malaysia.
Dimyani also vowed to come directly to Mexico, the United States, or Canada if Indonesia successfully reached the final round of the 2026 World Cup.
However, reality proved otherwise. In the two fourth-round matches held in October 2025, the Indonesian national team lost 2-3 to Saudi Arabia and 0-1 to Iraq.
Dimyani's dream, along with millions of other Indonesian supporters, of seeing Garuda appear in the World Cup had to be postponed.
Disappointment had gripped him. The long trip to Saudi Arabia he had made to watch Indonesia qualify for the World Cup felt like a waste.
However, failure wasn't the end of the world. He still wanted to channel the enthusiasm that had already welled up.
"It doesn't matter if the national team fails to qualify. At that time, I was determined to still attend the 2026 World Cup so that Indonesia would remain present there," said Dimyani.
