Ebola: The US urges European countries to implement

The United States has issued an official diplomatic statement urging European countries to implement travel restrictions related to the Ebola outbreak.

This request, dated June 1, calls on these countries to follow Washington's example by limiting access to their borders to people who have recently stayed in Central African countries affected by Ebola.

The United States has expressed concern in the hope of preventing the spread of the virus during the World Cup.

Last month, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an order barring entry to the United States for non-citizens who had been in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan in the previous 21 days.

Americans were asked to go through certain airports for screening. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Ebola must not be allowed to enter the United States, and the administration's efforts focused on keeping abroad anyone potentially exposed to the virus, even though the country has facilities equipped to treat Ebola cases while containing the spread of the virus.
