The Indonesian Badminton Association is projecting that Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo will switch from women's singles to women's doubles with Lanny Tria Mayasari as part of a restructuring of the national squad.
The Head Coach of the Indonesian Women's Doubles Association , Karel Mainaky, stated that the move was aimed at strengthening the depth of the Indonesian women's doubles squad, particularly in preparing reserves to compete at the international level.
"We currently have three main pairs who have demonstrated consistent performance. However, we also need to prepare backups with the quality to compete at the international level," Karel said in a statement from the PBSI Executive Board.
"From the evaluation with the women's singles coaching team, we see that Ester's potential would be more optimal if she were directed to the women's doubles sector," he said.
Karel believes that Ester has the playing style that suits the needs of modern women's doubles, especially in terms of hitting power, accuracy of ball placement, and transition ability.
