Fikri is determined to end his runner-up streak at the 2026 Indonesia Open

Men's doubles badminton specialist Muhammad Shohibul Fikri is determined to end his run of runner-up finishes when he and Fajar Alfian compete at the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1000 Polytron Indonesia Open 2026 at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan.

Fikri acknowledged that his record in finals hasn't resulted in many titles in recent tournaments. However, he emphasized that these results haven't dampened his determination to keep fighting, even when appearing in front of his home crowd at Istora.

"Yes, I'm aware of that. I've reached several finals, but I've failed. And yes, I've fought to the best of my ability," Fikri said at a press conference ahead of the tournament.

Since winning the 2022 All England with Bagas Maulana, Fikri has frequently reached the final, but more often than not, he has had to settle for runner-up.

While still paired with Bagas, Fikri recorded seven runner-up finishes, namely at the Super 300 Orleans Masters 2023, Super 500 Thailand Open 2023, Super 750 Denmark Open 2023, Super 750 French Open 2023, Super 300 Swiss Open 2024, Super 300 Thailand Masters 2025, and Super 300 Swiss Open 2025.

Then Fikri paired up with Fajar and finally won the title at the 2025 Super 1000 China Open.

However, after that, the titleless finals continued five times, each at the Super 500 Korea Open 2025, Super 750 Denmark Open 2025, Super 750 French Open 2025, Super 500 Australian Open 2025, and finally at the Super 750 Singapore Open 2026.
