Following a surprise Emirati decision, the Lebanese Prime Minister sends a message to President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam thanked UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the decision to allow UAE citizens to travel to Lebanon.

Nawaf Salam said: “On behalf of the Lebanese state and in my own name, I extend my sincere thanks to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the generous decision to allow UAE citizens to travel to their second home, Lebanon, which embodies the strength of the fraternal relations and the deep-rooted ties that unite our two countries.”

He added: "I have no doubt that this decision carries clear implications in renewing the UAE's confidence in Lebanon and its keenness to strengthen cooperation between us, in a way that achieves good and prosperity for our two peoples."

For his part, Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji stated that the UAE’s decision to lift the travel ban to Lebanon is a message of confidence in a country that has regained control of its political and security decisions, and evidence that Lebanon is moving steadily in the right direction.

The minister stated that "the more the state strengthens its presence, consolidates its sovereignty, and proceeds on the path of stability and reform, the more brothers and friends will rally around it, and countries will return to open up to Lebanon with confidence, believing that the future of this country is built through a strong state and a unified national decision."

Raji stressed that the UAE’s decision to lift the travel ban to Lebanon deserves thanks and appreciation.

Earlier, the Emirates News Agency said that the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs would allow its citizens to travel to Lebanon starting from June 29, 2026.

The agency explained that Emirati citizens wishing to visit Lebanon must register with the Tawajudi service before traveling, and they cannot leave the country's ports of entry before completing the registration in order to avoid travel suspension and legal accountability.

The agency added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that citizens of the country must inform the competent authorities upon their return through the "My Presence" service and update their data if any changes occur to it, and contact the ministry in emergency cases.

On April 30, the UAE banned its citizens from traveling to Iran, Lebanon and Iraq and called on its citizens in those countries to leave immediately and return home due to developments in the region.
