Hector said the tournament in Spain was a test of the U17 national futsal team's level

Head of the Indonesian National Futsal Team Expedition, Hector Souto, said the 2026 VI Nations U17 Futsal Tournament in Spain is a test of the playing level of the Indonesian U17 national team, which is mostly comprised of new players.

"This opportunity is crucial for us to gauge the level of play and see firsthand the differences between them  and us. Of course, there will be differences," Hector Souto told the media after the Indonesian U17 national futsal team's training camp.

He said that the tournament, which will take place on June 24-28, is an important momentum for the U17 national team because it is the first time the national team has traveled to Europe with a squad dominated by new players who have no experience on the international stage.

Hector, who is also the coach of the Indonesian national futsal team, explained that the Red and White team will face tough opponents such as Brazil and Spain.

Both countries, he said, have much better competition systems so players can develop clearly.

Meanwhile, Indonesia currently lacks a competitive system like those countries. "We do have many tournaments, but we don't have a truly appropriate coaching structure to develop young players," he said.
