The Egyptian national team secured a large financial reward after qualifying for the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Egypt officially qualified for the round of 32 of the World Cup before the start of their match against Iran, which took place on Saturday morning and ended in a 1-1 draw, thanks to the results of Group H, from which Spain and Cape Verde officially qualified.
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) had previously approved the distribution of a total amount of US$727 million (approximately €620 million) to the 48 teams participating in the 2026 World Cup finals.
While each team will receive US$1.5 million "to cover the costs of its preparations," the bulk of the amount allocated by FIFA, which is US$655 million, is allocated for financial prizes.
The winner of the World Cup will receive $50 million, the runner-up $33 million, and up to $9 million for each of the teams that are eliminated in the first round.
The prize money for the 2026 World Cup is distributed as follows:
First place: $50 million
Second place: 33 million
Third place: 29 million
Fourth place: 27 million
Centers 5 to 8: 19 million
Positions 9 to 16: 15 million
Centers 17 to 32: 11 million
Positions 33 to 48: 9 million.
Based on these figures, the financial reward that the Egyptian national team will receive is estimated at about $11 million, which is the value of the reward for teams qualifying for the round of 32 of the World Cup.
The Egyptian national team will meet its Australian counterpart next Friday in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup, and if they pass this round, the "Pharaohs" will be guaranteed a larger reward worth about $15 million.
