Iran announces it bombed US targets at bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan

Iran's Revolutionary Guard announced on Thursday that it had launched missile and drone strikes on several targets at military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan in response to US attacks targeting various areas in Iran.

The Revolutionary Guard said in a statement that “at dawn on Thursday, the US military launched missile attacks targeting an entertainment site, a production complex and the vicinity of a military barracks in areas near Karaj and Nazarabad (northwest Iran), in addition to a local Revolutionary Guard base in Pishva district (north).”

He added that “in response to these American attacks, we carried out an attack using 12 ballistic missiles targeting American fighter jet positions, along with important American military facilities at the airbase and command and control center in the Azraq region of Jordan.”

He added that "those facilities and a large number of American fighter jets were destroyed."

For its part, the Jordanian army confirmed in a statement that it had shot down 20 missiles launched from Iran, hours after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that it had launched ballistic missiles at an American command center in Jordan in response to the American night strikes.

The statement quoted a responsible Jordanian military source as saying that “Jordanian air defense systems and Royal Air Force aircraft intercepted and shot down 20 missiles launched from Iran towards the Azraq area (about 103 kilometers east of Amman) in the Zarqa Governorate at dawn on Thursday.”

According to the source, “The interception resulted in a number of fragments falling, without any human casualties or material damage.”

For its part, the US Embassy in Jordan, in a statement on its website, reported the detection of missiles or drones in Jordanian airspace, calling on its citizens to remain where they are immediately.

In an urgent security alert, the embassy urged American citizens to immediately seek head coverings and a safe place to take shelter where they are, remain inside buildings, and follow announcements and alerts issued by local authorities.

The embassy said the situation is still being monitored, stressing that it will continue to assess developments and provide citizens with any additional information as needed.

In the same context, the Revolutionary Guard said in another statement that, as part of the response to the American attacks, its Aerospace Force targeted 18 US military targets with missiles and drones at the “Ali Al-Salam” and “Ahmed Al-Jaber” air bases in Kuwait, and the “Sheikh Isa” air base in Bahrain, which were “hit and destroyed.”

Iranian media had previously reported that Iran attacked the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.

Bahrain announced on Thursday that a child was injured, several vehicles were burned, and homes were damaged in Hamad Town and the capital, Manama, as a result of "shrapnel falling from the interception and destruction of Iranian drones."
