Indonesian men's singles badminton player Jonatan Christie has advanced smoothly to the second round of the 2026 Indonesia Open.
In the first round which took place at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, Jonatan or familiarly known as Jojo beat Singapore's singles Jia Heng Jason Teh in two straight games 21-18, 21-15.
"There's still a bit of an adjustment to make at the beginning. Of course, the first round of every tournament is not easy because of the field adjustments and the wind conditions, which also have an impact," Jojo said in a press conference after the match.
Jojo admitted that he learned a valuable lesson after being eliminated in the first round of the 2026 Singapore Open.
Despite being eliminated in the first round of the 2026 Singapore Open, Jojo should be grateful for having had much more time to recover his stamina when he competed at the 2026 Indonesia Open.
