Fighter Justin Gaethje scored a technical knockout (TKO) over the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion (70.3kg) Ilia Topuria at the UFC Freedom 2025 event on the lawn of the White House, United States, Monday WIB.
Gaethje came out strong in the first round, landing the harder shots before Topuria rallied and nearly took out the interim champion in the second, hurting him several times before attempting a series of submissions on the canvas.
However, after that, Gaethje took control of the fight. The fighter nicknamed "The Highlight" began to find his rhythm, utilizing his trademark combination of punches and leg kicks.
Entering the third round, Gaethje became increasingly dominant. Several hard punches landed directly on Topuria's face, causing serious cuts around the defending champion's eyes and nose. Blood began pouring profusely from Topuria's face, while the swelling continued to grow, causing him to allegedly lose his vision.
