Spanish rider Marc Marquez has officially extended his contract with the Ducati Lenovo factory team to enter the new era of MotoGP with 850cc engines until the end of the 2028 season.
"I'm red. I'm really happy with this new agreement with the Ducati Lenovo Team and to continue being part of this family," said Marc Marquez, as quoted on the official MotoGP website.
Marquez revealed that when he decided to join Ducati, he believed the team had the most competitive project, so he was committed to giving his all to achieve more ambitious targets.
The new two-year contract agreement was originally agreed several months ago, but the official announcement was delayed due to the completion of the MSMA/MotoGP commercial contract in Brno.
Through this contract extension, the racer nicknamed "The Baby Alien" is certain to lead Ducati into the era of new 850cc technical regulations and the use of Pirelli tires starting in the 2027 season. At the Italian factory team, Marquez is scheduled to get a new teammate, namely young racer Pedro Acosta.
Ducati's decision to retain Marquez stems from his dominant performance in his debut season with the official team, where he equaled Valentino Rossi's record of seven premier class titles. However, Marquez was plagued by uncertainty about his fitness due to a shoulder injury he suffered at the Mandalika Circuit at the end of the 2025 season.
