The Minnesota Timberwolves released forward Julius Randle and the 28th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft to the Brooklyn Nets in a three-team swap, to face the 2026-2027 NBA.
The NBA website said Tuesday that in exchange for the deal, the Timberwolves acquired the 33rd pick from the Nets, while Nic Claxton joined the Chicago Bulls.
With that maneuver, the Timberwolves dropped five spots in this year's draft order and ended their time together with Randle.
Randle joined the club for the 2024 season in a trade involving Karl-Anthony Towns.
During his time at the club, the 31-year-old Randle became a key option up front thanks to his scoring and rebounding abilities.
For the Brooklyn Nets, Randle's arrival adds experience and quality to a squad that is rebuilding its strength.
In addition to acquiring the All-Star player, the Nets also acquired the 28th first-round pick which they can use to recruit young talent in the draft .
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls strengthened their defense by bringing in Claxton.
The 27-year-old center is known as one of the best defenders at his position, as well as possessing the ability to protect the rim and grab rebounds.
The deal is one of the key transactions ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft.
All three teams are taking advantage of the transfer window to address their individual needs, both in an effort to strengthen their core squads and to add draft assets for long-term interests.
