Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday ordered the army to attack targets in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
A statement issued by Netanyahu's office said: "Following repeated violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon by the Hezbollah terrorist group and attacks on our cities and citizens, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the IDF to attack terrorist targets in the Dahieh area of Beirut."
In this context, the Israeli army announced the death of one of its soldiers during battles in southern Lebanon , bringing the number of its dead to 26 since the beginning of March.
The army said in a brief statement that a 20-year-old sergeant was “killed in fighting in southern Lebanon.”
This brings the total number of Israeli deaths to 26, including 25 soldiers and one civilian contractor, since the resumption of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah on March 2.
