PB PASI strengthens athlete development in four regions of Indonesia

The General Chairman of the Indonesian Athletics Association  Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said the organization will strengthen its athlete development system by building four training centers in Indonesia to produce more high-achieving athletes.

He explained that the four training centers are spread across the Rawamangun Athletics Stadium , Pangalengan  Humbang Hasundutan  and the Timika area.

"All of this is part of a long-term strategy to improve national athletic performance in the future," said Luhut after opening the 2026 National Athletics Championship and the Indonesia U18 Open Championship  at the Rawamangun Athletics Stadium.

He further explained that all these facilities will be the foundation for sustainable or programmed athlete development.

The Rawamangun Athletics Stadium has been repaired by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, while the facilities in Humbang Hasundutan are expected to be completed in about one to two months.

"So, Humbang Hasundutan will accommodate athletes from the Sumatra region, while Pangalengan will remain the training center for athletes from Java, as will Timika," he said.
