The Egyptian national team is preparing to face Australia next Friday in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup.

According to the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", the Australian national team will be without the duo Mathew Leckie and Jacob Italiano until the end of the 2026 World Cup due to injury.

The Australian Football Federation said in a statement: "The Australian Football Federation wishes Jacob and Matthew a speedy recovery and thanks them for their contribution during the tournament."

Mathew Leckie, 35, playing in his fourth World Cup, has become Australia's most capped player in World Cup finals with 11 appearances.

Australia qualified as runners-up in Group D, which included the United States, Paraguay and Turkey.
