The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced the start of operations for the Red Sea Express container line at King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu.
The port received the ship “Falak Al Jubail” flying the Saudi flag, as the first ship dedicated by the national carrier “Falak Maritime Company” to this shipping line, carrying the first shipment of containers to the port in cooperation with “SABIC” and the Red Sea Gateway Terminal, with a capacity of 1,100 standard containers, which contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of the Kingdom’s port services and developing its operations.
This comes within the framework of strategic partnerships that "Mawani" (Saudi Ports Authority) is forging with major national and international shipping lines, in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, to contribute to consolidating the Kingdom's position in the investment and logistics sectors, in addition to developing non-oil national exports and imports and attracting investments.
This step reflects the Authority's focus on maximizing the benefits of the strategic location of King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu on the Red Sea coast, and enhancing its role in supporting maritime trade in the Kingdom, based on the port's high operational efficiency, which contributes to improving the efficiency of supply chains and expanding shipping connectivity options for beneficiaries.
The new shipping line contributes to enhancing coastal transport for container ships between Jeddah Islamic Port and King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu, and connecting the two ports with the ports of Aqaba in Jordan and Ain Sokhna in Egypt. It will support opening direct routes for shipping and exporting national products, increasing handling volumes at Saudi ports, in addition to contributing to direct imports from international ports and enhancing trade exchange.
King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu is considered one of the most important ports in the Kingdom. Being the largest in loading crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals on the Red Sea coast, it is located in the middle of the trade route between America, Europe and the Far East via the Suez Canal and Bab al-Mandab, with a capacity of up to 210 million.
