On Tuesday, the Israeli occupation army closed the headquarters of the Solidarity Charity Association in the city of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank , claiming that it “supports terrorism.”
Local sources said that occupation army forces stormed Nablus at dawn, accompanied by military vehicles and trucks, and raided the association’s headquarters, before confiscating its contents, including offices, equipment and aid intended for poor families.
She added that the occupation forces closed the entrance to the building and posted a military order to close the association on the pretext of “supporting terrorism.”
Following his inspection of the association's headquarters, Nablus Governor Ghassan Daghlas said that "the occupation will fail in its policy aimed at fighting charitable institutions that provide services to the poor and orphans."
He stated that the Solidarity Association has a long history of supporting needy families, and that its closure will not prevent the continued provision of aid to citizens.
Daghlas considered that targeting the association comes within the framework of a “systematic policy targeting the steadfastness of the Palestinians.”
For his part, Ghassan Hamdan, director of the Medical Relief Society in Nablus, said that the closure of the society “is not the first of its kind, but rather comes within a systematic Israeli targeting of institutions that provide services to the Palestinian community.”
He added that the Israeli government “seeks to dry up the sources of Palestinian resilience by targeting institutions that support needy groups, as part of a policy aimed at weakening Palestinian society and forcing residents to leave.”
Hamdan stressed that these policies “will not succeed, and efforts will continue to protect the role of civil society organizations and ensure their continued operation.”
The Solidarity Charitable Society is one of the most prominent charitable societies in Nablus. It was founded in 1956 and obtained its first license in the same year, before renewing its license with the Palestinian Authority in 1997.
The association provides services to thousands of orphans and poor people, and it has its own schools.
Last month, the Israeli occupation army closed the headquarters of the “Medid” charity in Nablus on the pretext of “providing services to an illegal organization.”
In October 2025, the occupation army closed the Islamic Association in the city of Hebron in the southern West Bank, under a similar pretext.
West Bank cities are witnessing frequent raids by the Israeli occupation army, accompanied by clashes, arrests and injuries, as well as an escalation in attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinians.
Since October 8, 2023, attacks by the Israeli army and settlers in the West Bank have resulted in the martyrdom of more than 1,173 Palestinians, the injury of 12,666, and the arrest of about 23,000, according to official data.
