Second seed Alexander Zverev halted the run of young star Rafael Jodar with a 7-6(3), 6-1, 6-3 victory on Tuesday to advance to the semifinals of the 2026 French Open.
Zverev, who has dropped only one set in his five matches so far at Roland Garros, rallied from 2-5 down to take the first set before accelerating to victory in two hours and 17 minutes on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
"It was tough. He had a perfect rhythm in the first set and I didn't. My shots were very short and I was very defensive," Zverev said after the match.
“He played amazingly and outplayed me at the start of the first set, but I managed to come back while he played a little nervously on serve.”
Zverev will face either 26th seed Jakub Mensik or 28th seed Joao Fonseca, who stands in the way of the German reaching his fourth Grand Slam final.
Regardless of who his next opponent is, seven-time ATP Masters 1000 champion and two-time ATP Finals champion Zverev will enter the match full of confidence after defeating the in-form Jodar.
