Alexander Zverev overcame a difficult start to reach the French Open quarter-finals where he will face rising young tennis star Rafael Jodar.
The world number 3 defeated Jesper de Jong 7-6(3), 6-4, 6-1 on Court Philippe-Chatrier in the fourth round on Sunday (31/5), reaching the last eight of the Grand Slam tournament in Paris for the sixth time in a row.
"It was a bit difficult at first. I didn't start well, but he started really fast and really well. But once I found my rhythm, I felt really comfortable on the court, and that's the most important thing for me," Zverev said, as quoted by the ATP website.
Zverev was trailing 0-3 against the world number 106, but the second seed came back to win the match after spending two hours and 14 minutes.
"I feel like my game is good, now I just have to show it on the court," said Zverev.
The 29-year-old German moved closer to his first Grand Slam trophy by converting four of the seven break points he faced against De Jong.
