US House Speaker Mike Johnson warned of the "communists" coming to power in the United States based on the results of the upcoming elections.

"We're no longer talking during the election period about common sense fighting insanity," Johnson said in an interview with Fox News. "Now it's common sense fighting communism. And it's time for everyone to wake up."

He added that the competition for elected positions for Republicans is from "Marxists, communists, and socialists," noting that Democrats in legislative bodies are aware of the threat but cannot do anything about it.

Johnson asserted that "this is a threat we have never seen before in our electoral system," warning that "barbarians are at the gates."

This statement comes at a time when political rhetoric is escalating in the United States ahead of the elections, with sharp divisions continuing between the Republican and Democratic parties over domestic and foreign issues.

Johnson, one of the most prominent Republican leaders in Congress, made his remarks in the context of an election campaign characterized by extreme rhetoric, in which Republicans are adopting a discourse that focuses on what they describe as the "socialist threat" posed by the Democrats, in an attempt to rally conservative voters.

It's worth noting that Johnson is not the first high-ranking Republican official to make such accusations. Former President Donald Trump and other Republican lawmakers previously used similar terminology in their campaign speeches, escalating the political battle between the two parties. These statements drew criticism from Democrats, who described them as an attempt to "scare voters" and a "distortion of political reality."
