French President Emmanuel Macron was keen to send a message of support to his country's national team players, following their loss to Spain and elimination from the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
The French national team was eliminated from the competition after losing 2-0 to Spain in the semi-final match held at Dallas Stadium.
Through his official account on the "X" platform, Macron congratulated the Spanish national team on reaching the final match, praising the level they displayed during the tournament and their deserving qualification.
In contrast, the French president expressed his pride in what the "Les Bleus" players had accomplished, thanking them for their commitment, fighting spirit, and honorable representation of France throughout their journey in the World Cup.
Bravo to the Espagne for this qualification. Please let us know what we are doing with your engagement. This defect is difficult, this equipment is new and safe.
Macron stressed that theelimination was a painful moment for everyone, especially given the high hopes that had been placed on the team, but he emphasized that the team includes a distinguished group of young players capable of restoring the glory of French football in future tournaments.
It is worth noting that Macron did not attend the match due to his participation in the French National Day celebrations. He had previously announced his intention to attend the final if his country’s team qualified, but France’s exit from the tournament ended those plans.
