Acting Secretary General of the People's Consultative Assembly Siti Fauziah is encouraging the strengthening of an anti-corruption culture within the MPR RI Secretariat General through the implementation of the values of simplicity and honesty as the foundation of apparatus integrity.
"Our country's Corruption Perception Index scored 34, placing Indonesia 109th out of 180 countries. This is certainly a matter of shared concern. Many believe that corruption has become a part of Indonesia's culture. This is something we must work together to eradicate. Let's start with small steps that will have a significant impact on the country," Siti said in her statement.
He explained that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has established nine integrity values: honesty, caring, independence, discipline, responsibility, hard work, simplicity, courage, and justice. Of these values, simplicity and honesty must be the primary focus in building the character of civil servants.
"In particular, I want to emphasize the value of simplicity. If we live simply and don't demand excessive things, our minds won't be driven to seek out deviant ways to achieve more and more. This is a value we must instill in ourselves," he said.
In addition, Siti said that honesty is a moral attitude that not only means not lying, but also obeying all applicable rules so as to build trust and integrity in work.
"An honest attitude will create trust and foster integrity in our work. Therefore, there is no reason for us to be dishonest under any circumstances," said Siti.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of the Secretariat of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) Anies Mayangsari Muninggar said that strengthening the anti-corruption culture needs to be done continuously through building integrity as part of the organization's work culture.
"Efforts to prevent corruption must be carried out continuously, not only through strengthening regulations and oversight, but also through building a culture of integrity that becomes part of the organization's behavior and work culture," he said.
