Australian international striker Tete Yengi has announced his conversion to Islam, confirming that his decision came after a journey of research and reflection that ended with a complete personal conviction in the Islamic religion.
The Australian national team star said his journey to Islam began with a visit to a mosque in Adelaide where he met preacher Ismail Mink, who spoke to him about the Islamic faith.
He added, "Curiosity drove me to visit the mosque to discover what Muslims do during prayer."
Titi Yengi, 25, plays for Scottish side Livingston.
Australia will face Egypt in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup.
