An Iranian newspaper puts Trump, Netanyahu, and European leaders on a list of those to be avenged for the killing of Khamenei

The Iranian newspaper Hamshahri, which has a hardline conservative orientation, published a list of names of figures who it said “should pay the price” for the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei , including US President Donald Trump , Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and European leaders.

This comes after the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, confirmed in a written message published on Saturday that revenge for his father's blood is "inevitable".

Ali Khamenei was killed in the US-Israeli airstrikes that sparked the war in the Middle East, on February 28, 2026.

In a letter dated Friday and published by the official news agency IRNA on Saturday, Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not appeared in public since the outbreak of the war, said, “These criminals, whose names are listed in full from beginning to end, will take with them to their graves the wish to die a peaceful death in their beds.”

Hamshahri newspaper published an electronic graphic on its website on Saturday evening containing these statements, but it did not appear in its print edition on Sunday.

The drawing displays images of 13 figures, seemingly a reference to the list mentioned by Mojtaba Khamenei, although he did not mention any names.

The newspaper's cartoon depicts Trump and Netanyahu with a crosshair, as if they were targets. The list also includes US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, along with several European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and outgoing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

During the war, Iran accused European countries of not condemning the attacks that targeted its territory, and even considered some of them to be complicit in them, as they allowed American military aircraft to cross their airspace.
