Two young Indonesian boxers, Anggie Intania Chalik and Dira Artika, admitted that they were mentally preparing themselves for the final matches of their respective classes in the 2026 Asian U19 & U23 Boxing Championships, which are scheduled to take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Basketball Hall, Senayan.
"I've definitely prepared myself mentally, and I've been working on my mindset for a long time," Anggie said.
Anggie, who is competing in the U19 women's light flyweight class (45-48 kg), will face India's representative, Gunjan, in the final.
The 16-year-old boxer reached the final after defeating Yura Tanaka from Japan with a tight 3-2 (29-28, 30-27, 29-28, 28-29, 27-30) points victory in the semifinals, Monday (13/7).
"We have a month to prepare for this Asian Boxing training camp, so we will definitely give our all to Indonesia," said Anggie.
However, the Jakarta-based boxer admitted he wouldn't put too much pressure on himself ahead of the final. He simply hoped to bring out the best in his training and thorough preparation.
"We've studied it, and we're also preparing to visualize how we'll anticipate our opponents. The main thing is, we'll give our best tomorrow," he said.
