Indonesian boxer Anggie Intania Chalik said her hard training paid off with her winning a gold medal at the Asian U19 and U23 Boxing event at the Basket Hall, Senayan.
"I feel touched, proud, all the hard work paid off here," said Anggie Intania Chalik to the media crew after her victory.
Anggie won the gold medal for the Indonesian team after defeating India's Gunjan by unanimous decision in the women's light flyweight U19 final. Three judges had Anggie in favor with a score of 29-28, while the other two had Gunjan in favor with a score of 29-28.
He explained that he and his teammates had undergone rigorous training for several months to face competition in the Asian Boxing which was being held for the first time in Indonesia.
The Papuan-Sumatran athlete recalled receiving punishment from her coach for negligence in training. However, her gold medal victory made up for it all.
"Everything can be paid for here," he said.
After winning gold in this prestigious event, Anggie strengthened her determination to continue training and preparing herself to achieve more success in future events on the international stage.
