The U18 national volleyball team's mentality is boosted thanks to their victory over Hong Kong

Indonesian U18 men's national volleyball team coach Odyk Hermanto revealed that the victory over Hong Kong was a turning point for his team's mentality at the 2026 Asian U18 Men's Volleyball Championship in Haikou, China.

Indonesia achieved its first victory in the tournament after defeating Hong Kong in three straight sets 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-20) at Wuyuanhe Gymnasium, Tuesday (14/7).

"In this match, they played more freely. The game system worked, and they were able to control the rhythm well,".

According to him, Indonesia's game against Hong Kong was different compared to the first two Group A matches against hosts China and Taiwan.

In these two matches, the players were deemed to still be burdened with targets, so they appeared tense and overly cautious in making decisions.

"In the first two matches, the kids were still nervous and played too cautiously because they wanted to meet their targets," said Odyk.
