Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Gil Marin has responded to Barcelona's interest in signing Julian Alvarez during the summer transfer window.

Barcelona have placed Julian Alvarez at the top of their list of targets to be the team's main striker next season after Robert Lewandowski's departure.

Miguel Gil Marin said in comments published by Fabrizio Romano: "We do not want to sell Julian Alvarez. We did not accept an offer of 100 million euros and we will not accept an offer of 150 or 200 million euros."

He added: "My position and the club's position is clear. We have made that clear to the player, his representatives and the president of Barcelona. I have no doubt that Atletico is the best place in the world for Alvarez and that Julian is the ideal out-and-out striker for us. We want to keep him."

He concluded: "I recently heard the president (Laporta) say that the offer he made to Atletico Madrid has limits, and my only response is that our answer is limitless. We do not want to sell him."

Julian Alvarez scored one goal during his participation with the Argentine national team in the 2026 World Cup finals.

Alvarez contributed to Argentina's qualification for the World Cup final to face Spain in the final match after defeating England 2-1.
