The Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency of the Ministry of Communication and Digital is working to expedite repairs to the damaged submarine optical cable on the Palapa Ring Middle Network, Melonguane–Morotai Segment, which has experienced a partial fiber optic break.
This restoration is a preventative measure, not a result of a total network outage. By carrying out repairs early, the government is attempting to prevent potential wider disruptions to telecommunications services in several islands north of North Sulawesi province.
"We are ensuring that all teams are working optimally in the field to expedite the restoration of this vital infrastructure to ensure quality connectivity throughout Indonesia," said Acting Director of BAKTI Infrastructure at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Darien Aldiano, in a statement confirmed.
