Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli will start the main race of the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francochamps on Sunday evening WIB, in pole position.
The Italian driver dominated Saturday's qualifying session, beating Red Bull driver Max Verstappen and McLaren driver Lando Norris.
Kimi Antonelli will be overshadowed by Verstappen and his teammate George Russell who will start from the first grid.
Power unit changes made by a number of drivers during free practice and qualifying sessions had a domino effect on the Belgian GP starting grid.
Norris, who was supposed to start the race from third position, had to start the race from 13th position after being found to have violated the rules and was penalized a ten-position drop.
The same fate was also experienced by Lance Stroll, Isack Hadjar, and Fernando Alonso who were also given penalties and had to start the race from 20th, 21st, and 22nd positions, because they were proven to have violated the power renewal regulations and were given penalties.
