Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiv has announced that it has filed an official complaint with UEFA in protest against the raising of the Russian flag by a number of fans of Greek club PAOK.
This came after the two teams faced each other in the second qualifying round of the Europa League.
In an official statement, the Ukrainian club described the incident as a "deliberate provocation," demanding that UEFA investigate the incident and take a clear stance on it.
Dynamo Kyiv stressed that football should be a means of uniting peoples, noting that the European Union had previously decided to exclude Russian clubs from European competitions.
The statement added that some PAOK players tried to intervene and asked the fans to remove the Russian flag, expressing hope that UEFA would deal with the incident with the same firmness it follows in similar cases.
Dynamo Kyiv coach Igor Kostyuk described the raising of the Russian flag during the match as a "provocation" by the Greek team's fans.
The match was held on July 23 in the Polish city of Lublin, and ended with PAOK winning 3-2, with the return leg to be held in Greece on July 30.
