Indonesian men's singles player Alwi Farhan has cited footballer Cristiano Ronaldo as an inspiration in developing his competitive mentality, particularly in terms of work ethic, discipline, and the ability to handle pressure.
"I see a different mentality in him. He really inspires me," Alwi said when met at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center.
Alwi said his admiration for Ronaldo grew from childhood. Besides his love for Manchester United, he also noted that Ronaldo's career demonstrated his hard work and strong mental fortitude.
"He was a true childhood hero . I've loved Manchester United since I was little. I saw his work ethic and discipline," said Alwi.
According to Alwi, Ronaldo's character resonates with him because his career was built through hard work and the ability to overcome intense pressure. This has led Alwi to consider Ronaldo a role model for developing his competitive character.
"I think many people relate to Cristiano Ronaldo because he's had a difficult life, but he's managed to persevere. I find there's something extraordinary about the way he handles such immense pressure," Alwi said.
