The Syrian sports community has lost one of its most prominent former stars, after the death of Al-Karama and Syrian national team player Firas Ismail, following a tragic traffic accident in the Turkish province of Samsun.

Firas Ismail, 43, is one of the prominent names in the history of Al-Karama Club, as he was one of the team's members during a distinguished period of his career. He also wore the Syrian national team jersey and participated in representing his country before announcing his retirement from football.

The past few days had seen news circulating about the former player being involved in a car accident in Türkiye and being transferred for treatment, before the news of his death was later confirmed, amid prayers for mercy for him and widespread condolences from athletes and fans.
