France coach Didier Deschamps praised his team's qualification for the semi-finals of the World Cup being held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
France ended Morocco’s dream of progressing to the 2026 World Cup, after defeating them 2-0, to advance to the semi-finals of the competition in which they are looking to win their third title.
In the match held yesterday, Thursday, in Boston, USA, Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for the French national team in the 60th minute, after he missed a penalty kick in the 28th minute, then Ousmane Dembele added the second goal for France in the 66th minute.
Deschamps said in media statements after the match: "Three consecutive wins in the knockout stages, that's fantastic. It seems logical and natural, but you have to make it happen."
The French coach added, "The penalty kick was complicated. When it comes to Kylian, there is no problem, he never doubts himself. We have achieved what we were aiming for."
Deschamps spoke about Mbappe's injury, who he decided to substitute in the 77th minute due to some pain, saying, "He had a minor ankle injury and was feeling some pain. This is normal; the matches are coming in quick succession."
Deschamps concluded his remarks by saying, "I imagine there is a lot of enthusiasm in France, but here (in the United States) we are somewhat isolated. We have taken another step today, we are back in the semi-finals."
It is worth noting that the French national team, the world champion in 1998 and 2018, will face in the semi-finals of the current edition the winner of the match between Spain and Belgium, which will take place later today, Friday.
