Deschamps: We are exactly where we want to be

French national team coach Didier Deschamps said his team is "exactly where we want to be" after securing their third consecutive World Cup semi-final.

This certainty was obtained after France defeated Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup with a score of 2-0 through goals from Kylian Mbappe (60') and Ousmane Dembele (66') at Boston Stadium, United States.

"We're now exactly where we wanted to be. We'll recover well and wait to see who our next opponent is," Deschamps said, as quoted on FIFA's official website on Friday.

In the semifinals, France will await the winner of the match between Spain and Belgium, which will be played at Los Angeles Stadium on Saturday (July 11) at 2:00 a.m. WIB. The semifinal between France and either Spain or Belgium will be held on Wednesday (July 15) at 2:00 a.m. WIB at Dallas Stadium.

If they win again in the semifinals, Les Bleus will reach their third consecutive final. They previously won the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and were defeated in the final four years later in Qatar by Argentina.
